Brazil Nature Tours

Our family of four took the Pantanal/Bonito tour. John and his team are pros. Every detail was settled via email before we took the trip. The transfers were all in large passenger vans. The guides were smart, considerate and professional. Our guide in the Pantanal was Rordigo. He was a champ. He was the absolute best guide that we have had on any trip we have taken. He is a hustler who went out of his way to make every excursion an outstanding one. He was great with out two young daughters.

We made a trip to Brazil last summer (Brazil’s winter) which included Rio, North and South Pantanal, Bonito and Iguasu Falls. This trip we did through Brazil Natural Tours (BNT) under the guidance of John Wilemsen. To be very honest initially we were skeptical about tours to Latin America after the bad experience we had with Eric Adventures in Peru and Bolivia before. But this tour turned out to be simply a magical one because of John and BNT’s efficient, caring and honest handling of the entire itinerary and Brazil’s spectacularness. Everywhere John had efficient connection, comfortable and safe accommodation and most importantly knowledgeable and compassionate guides with full of integrity waiting for us. The tour started with a blast in Rio when Vincent showed us going above and beyond the spectacular city (just in sheer beauty my top of the list in the world and I have been to 35+ countries) he is passionate about, continued with an absolutely amazing trip to Porto Jofre (North Pantanal) with Judy where we saw 16 Jaguars in two days including a mating pair for 10 minutes. In Bonito the guide Luis again went above and beyond helping me and my wife tremendously with our questionable water skills in the river stretch for 2+ kilometers and got us into an absolutely fabulous river fish restaurant, and then we met Stefan Grol in Fazenda Baranco Alto (South Pantanal), what can I say about Stefan, we spent 3 days together talking about all kinds of stuff from Pantanal to world politics and art and night sky and I guess we will forever remember him. Stefan showed us many things including the giant ant eater, the armadillo, the coatimundi, giant otters (we saw them in north Pantanal as well), Pantanal deer, peccaries of both kinds, many birds including the Hyacinth and blue and gold Macaws, Rias (we saw them in Bonito as well), Jabiru Storks, Caimans and Capybaras (we saw them in plenty in north two) and last but not the least a colony of vampire bats in an abandoned toilet of the original owner of the firm, here we met world famous wild life photographer Rudy from Switzerland. Finally in the falls we met Freddi who was somewhat amusing and guided us to a nice show plus Brazil and Argentina side.One last thing I have to mention about John. We had an unfortunate incident in North Pantanal, the way John and his associates in Pantanal partners handled it (was the guy’s name Raul or Jose can not remember) was really impressive, touched our heart and helped us all through the trip.If we go to Brazil again we know who to go with and recommend everybody to consider BNT when planning a trip to wonderful Brazil.

For the adventure traveler, the Jaguar Experience is a must. John W responds immediately. HIs recommended lodgings, private plane transport, and timing were perfect. Highly recommend both the Pantanal (north and south) experience and working with Brazil Nature Tours. For the Flotel, while the normal accommodations are good (but noisy), recommend an upgrade to the more expensive rooms on the second attached houseboat. Viewing of nature was beyond our expectations. Having just returned from the Pantanal, we can only praise Brazil Nature Tours for making it truly memorable. We saw more wildlife than we had hoped for from the 202 identified birds to the close encounter with the giant anteater. We just finished our 3 day package in Bonito that we booked with John from Brazil Nature Tours and words cannot describe what an amazing experience it was! Upon our arrival in Campo Grande, we were picked up by Lilian - our English-speaking guide and driver - who took care of us during out entire stay. Lilian was wonderful: she was always at our disposal, she was super patient and kind, and she constantly provided us with interesting facts and stories about the region, animals, food etc. She knows everything about Bonito, Pantanal, and the surroundings! We stayed at a cute and quiet lodge Pousada d’Olho Agua in Bonito and we did Boca de Onça hike, Gruta do Lago Azul visit, and Rio da Prata snorkeling tour. All the activities were perfectly organized and so much fun! We felt safe, well taken care of, and we learned so much! We could not have imagined a better stay in Bonito and we are looking forward to returning to visit Pantanal!

John Willemsen of BNT did a great job of arranging an itinerary to suit my needs and expectations of a trip to the Amazon and the North Pantanal regions. He selected excellent accommodations and arranged air transportation that gave me plenty of time to make connections. John was always prompt in answering any questions I had prior to my trip. I would highly recommend this company to anyone planning to travel through Brazil.

Our trip to the Pantanal was beyond expectations. The trip was very well organized, transportation was smooth, accommodations were excellent. Our guide Zeine, made this trip worthwhile; her enthusiasm, dedication and knowledge were above and beyond. She is passionate about the Pantanal and makes you appreciate the area even more.
