We stayed at Raffles with my wife for 5 days to celebrate our honeymoon. When we arrived, a member of staff, Aaron Nyamedor, greeted us at the reception. We were asked for a massive amount of deposit, 20,000 SR ≈ $1500, and didn’t explain properly what is included in our half board package and other stuff (turns out water is not included in dinner and they charge $8 per bottle). He also asked for our marriage certificate to be able to give us honeymoon special experience. We never received that, which was supposed to be a romantic bath with a bottle of champagne. Manager of the hotel was kind enough to ask for some constructive feedback on our last day and offered €100 voucher, but we would much rather have that romantic bath experience. Key cards were not working properly and everyday we had to spend around 5 minutes to try to get inside our villa. Breakfast buffet was decent, but lunch and dinner weren’t, it felt like they just wanted to make as much money as they can with supplement food options in the menu, instead of providing enough options what we have already paid for (had to pay extra for steak…). Even prices on the menu were exclusive of tax and service charge to trick you like in the US.It was also little bit annoying that staff kept knocking on our door few times a day, considering we were on honeymoon! All dinner restaurants required booking in advance, yet reception staff seems to have limited knowledge of available restaurants and “experiences” for dinner. During one dinner, a cat jumped on our table, so we couldn’t eat the rest of our meal. Waiter just took away the plates, without offering a replacement…I also asked them to email the invoice and return/unblock the deposit I paid after check out, but they didn’t even manage to do that. Cleaning lady and buggy drivers were friendly. In short, service was awful, more suited for people who just want to spend time inside a villa or who don’t care spending even more while staying there.
